The book name is Looking For Blondie, and the main character is Justine. Justine is fourteen years old she is short with a height of 140 cm she has plain old brown hair and good teeth. The book is told in first person narrative by Justine. Justines uncle (Sam Wedgwood) is a crime novel writer and he has a doll that he uses as inspiration to write novels, untill one night when it got stolen and he lost his wrighting touch.
I think that the author has created Justine because she makes a perspective that ouldn't have been given by anyone else in the story because she lives with him and is close to him. Justine was made this age because children at that age have a very discriptive look at things and that helps the reader picture what is going on in their heads.
If Justine was a boy the story wouldn't have flowed as good as it does, because if she was a boy she would not have liked Brett McCluskey so much because they would have been from the same sex. This would damage the story because the offensive things that brett said and did would have been taken more seriously by Justine and they wouldn't have stayed friends.
